Cory English

Cory English is the principal owner of Healing Hearts, along with her husband, Dan. She is largely behind the scenes at Healing Hearts, supervising the office staff, filling in as needed, and managing other clerical duties from home.​ Cory is a retired Physical Therapist, a profession that she notes has similarities with mental health therapy in that it is a care-giving profession, teaching, encouraging, and enabling clients to use their inner strengths to achieve wellness.

Cory received her BS in Physical Therapy from Eastern Washington University and practiced primarily in the hospital setting in both Spokane and Coeur d’Alene, retiring in 2020.  She and Dan raised four children and have eleven grandchildren.

​

Cory has leadership experience in her work as a PT as well is within her congregation and synod.  Her lived experience both professionally and personally has given her an appreciation for the situations that lead one to seek mental health care.  The excellent reputation of Healing Hearts was a factor in the decision to purchase this practice.  She brings to the practice an understanding of the stresses inherent in being in a care-giving role, and a commitment be supportive to our therapists, believing that investing in our excellent staff benefits both them and the community they serve.

Dan English describes himself as a people person and being someone who is in engaged in our community.  He has been a Licensed Professional Counselor in Idaho for over 30 years. His approach is based on the belief that building positive trusting relationships is the key to understanding ourselves and others. 

​

Dan’s community engagement as an advocate over the years has included leadership positions in several non-profit organizations including CASA, Habitat for Humanity, and the Area 1 Area Agency on Aging, a program of North Idaho College.  He was also the founder and first Executive Director of North Idaho Youth for Christ and Anchor House/Idaho Youth Ranch.  He has served as a school board member, county clerk, and is currently in his 4th term on the Coeur d’Alene City Council.

Sheryl Hill, LPC, MHCA, CMHS​

We welcome Sheryl! She has over 30yr of experience working with youth and a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology, she has been in therapeutic practice for 8 years and is Certified in Trauma Focused CBT. ​ Sheryl is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Idaho, Mental Health Counselor Associate License in Washington, and is a Child Mental Health Specialist who has also had international clinical training through the AAMFT.

Since graduating her clinical skills have focused on out-patient non-profit community behavioral health and inpatient hospital serving youth and adults. She has led a collaborative team in building and teaching her curriculum for a teen suicide prevention grant. Following this, she became a Crisis Intervention Therapist, which led to finding her passion in Private Practice to focus on her specialty in Child Sexual Abuse, Sexual Assault, Domestic and Intimate Partner Violence, family systems, childhood trauma, anxiety and depression.

Prior to her psychology degree she attained her bachelor's degree cultivating experiences and education in criminal justice, law history, the courts system, social justice and Early Childhood Education. This background allows her to connect deeply with her clients, recognizing therapy goes beyond interpersonal work. It involves understanding the various environments and systems that impact their lives. By considering these factors, she can provide a more holistic approach to therapy, fostering a meaningful individualized healing journey by encouraging her clients in self-advocacy, self-discovery through healing trauma, and building life skills with a positive purpose.

When she's not in the office, Sheryl enjoys spending time cultivating healthy relationships with her son, family, faith, pursuing her hobbies, and savoring a good cup of coffee!

Shelly Hansen, LMSW

Shelly Hansen, LMSW  Shelly is a Master's Level Social worker, currently working towards her clinical licensure. She plans to have her clinical licensure by March of 2026.  She has been in the field of social work for 30 years. 

Hello, my name is Shelly Hansen! I have served in various capacities, including eleven years with children and families through the Head Start Program. I served as the Elementary School Counselor in the Kellogg School District for several years, as well as private counseling. In the very beginning of my career, I served as part of a behavioral modification team for a high spectrum child with autism.  I have served in the position as "Care Provider," at what was then named The Children's Village for several years as well.  I created Soul Sprinkles Life Coaching and served in the capacity of life coach for several years.

In the therapeutic realm, I work towards the goal of transformational change and a focus on helping people live their most preferred life. The focus of my work is based on the knowledge that we all have blocks which sometimes keep us from making needed changes and experiencing joy. These blocks are often created early in life, but can come about at any stage, typically a result of a disturbing event which we have not yet fully processed. I operate with the belief that when we clear blocks "soul sprinkles" flow, when soul sprinkles flow, life feels good, when life feels good, magnificent changes happen.  I utilizes several modalities to reach this goal of clearing channels, including narrative therapy, modern dream work (Dreamscape), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR,) mindful meditations, play therapy, solution-focused conversations for the purpose of clarifying what is or is not serving an individual in their life, at this point, and I am currently learning and integrating dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). ​I enjoy counseling with children and adults alike.

I enjoy singing, and I am a writer, with the goal of finishing publishing my first book.  I am a mother of two grown children and the grandmother of two. I am an animal lover and have never been without a dog in my life.  I love hanging out by water, whether that be a river, an ocean, lake, hot spring or waterfall. I believe that Nature is the very best therapist in existence!

Raymond Prevost, LMSW

He has a background in community health and experience in juvenile behavioral issues; Ray is dedicated to supporting both youth and adults He is committed to being present for his clients and meeting them where they are in their journey. We’re excited to have him on board!

Hannah

Hannah is our friendly and encouraging front office glue.  If you are a current client who needs to leave message for your therapist or calling to ask about our services, she' is our go to.  She enjoys antiques, stained glass, loves her family and faith and her service in the community and international missions.

Gladys Tenney, BS

Welcome to the team, Gladys! We are thrilled to have you join.

Gladys was born and raised in Veracruz, Mexico. As a teenager, her family moved to Washington State, where she later met her husband. After spending several years in Alaska, Gladys and her family settled in North Idaho, which they have called home for the past decade.

​

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Marriage and Family Studies degree, with extensive knowledge in Marriage, Family, and Human Relations; Family Functioning; Parent and Family Life Education; and Family Advocacy and Human Services. She recently received her Parent Café Facilitator certificate.

​

Gladys is dedicated to strengthening families, supporting marriages, protecting children and empowering parents to build nurturing, healthy home environments where all family members can thrive. Her approach is evidence-based and emphasizes compassion and respect.

​

Along with her formal education, Gladys brings extensive experience in homeschooling, curriculum development, and working with children and adolescents of diverse learning styles, helping them succeed in their educational journey and reach personal goals. Additionally, she has supported children and youth with neurodivergent needs- particularly ADHD. Her interest and research led her to develop and facilitate a “Parenting Adolescents” workshop for local families.

Gladys is actively involved in several community and non-profit organizations dedicated to the support and well-being of individuals and families. Her strong faith inspires her commitment to serving others and fostering resilience within marriages and families.

​

In her free time, she loves spending time with her family and dogs. She loves hiking, spending time at the lake, cooking with her family, reading, and learning! Gladys is also fluent in Spanish and values connecting with families from diverse backgrounds.
